I recently bought ysl y edp as my second fragrance since almost everyone said it was a nice pleasant all year round versatile fragrance which was pretty clean. This seemed like a good buy to me as a newby. I got it in today and smelled it but it wasn't what i expected and i didn't like it that much. It wasnt bad but not really nice. Plus, it's not like Yves Saint-Laurent himself made all those fragrances. Designers hire perfumers, often masters, to make these things.Y Eau de Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent is a Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men. Y Eau de Parfum was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Dominique Ropion. Top notes are Apple, Ginger and Bergamot; middle notes are Sage, Juniper Berries and Geranium; base notes are Amberwood, Tonka Bean, Cedar, Vetiver and Olibanum.
Can this really be a YSL fragrance? It's just a fruity shower gel type smell with bombastic sillage. If someone told me it's a Zara fragrance I would believe it . The Y EDY is nice for summer but packs a light delicate touch. The Y EDP and Parfum and excellent and love both. The EDP Intense is now my least favorite in the line and IMO, not needed.
In my view Y EDP is just another boring Sauvage/Dylan Blue/Bleu de Chanel rehash, nothing special and even a bit crass and vulgar. I'd rather wear Al-Rehab Dakar, a Drakkar Noir dupe that's more enjoyable to me than Y EDP in every way.
