Review of Eau Noire. Eau Noire by Dior, a 2004 release, is a scent that predominantly attracts a mature, masculine audience. As an evening or night-out fragrance, its foremost qualities lie in its robust durability and noticeable presence.
Overall, Eau Noire may be a love or hate fragrance. It is undeniably well made and well composed, of that there is no doubt. It smells extremely natural, very much like sitting on a Mediterranean hillside in the South of France in hot summer whilst sipping an authentic espresso. Eau Noire performs well and smells naturally and indescribably fantastic, and it is certainly among the most wonderful things I've sampled this year. One sniff into the sample and the words, "I want a bottle" were already forming on my mouth. Performance of Eau Noire is surprising. It projections but never in the form of a heavy cloud, more like delicate vines of ivy curling out from around you to a decent distance. It lasts 8-12 hours for me even in high heat, 24-48 on clothing. It never feels weak in the cold or cloying in the heat.
But now, as though paying homage to what is generally considered a high point of Dior’s fragrant output, Kurkdjian has reunited the original trilogy and made it available once again.
