In his new movie The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone wears the Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta Rattrapante (PAM332). Panerai will produce only 500 examples of the chronometer-certified special limited edition, which features a split-second chronograph that counts down the 5 .
It comes from the Collection of the legendary actor Sylvester Stallone and was further screen worn by him throughout “The Expendables 2”, filmed in 2011 - the very year this model was released. Given Stallone's extensive tenure as a Panerai collector, it's no surprise he selected this iconic model to complement his character in the movie.
Next up were the remarkable results for the prototype Panerai Luminor Submersible piece-unique PAM00269 and the Panerai PAM00382, which Stallone wore in the movie “The Expendables 2.” These hammered down at 90,000 USD and 96,000 USD, respectively. In The Expendables 2 the entire cast of the crew joins Stalone in wearing Panerai, this time the Luminor Submersible 1950 Bronzo, reference PAM382. The watch features a 47mm bronze case and green dial, 4mm thick sapphire crystal and began its production run in 2011 limited to 1,000 pieces. Stallone is also often credited with making Panerai a global watch powerhouse brand. He wore his first Panerai in the 1996 film Daylight. Prior to this film, Panerai had only been selling watches to civilians for three years.
If of interest, Sylvester Stallone wore his personal Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta Rattrapante ref. PAM00332 in the first-ever The Expendables (2010) film. And, as luck would have it, that watch is up for auction right now.
