I’ve my had my ysl Kate bag for a few years now and take extremely good care of it but recently I’ve noticed that the gold on the logo and the chain are becoming discolored. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’ve asked a few bag repair shops and they’ve told me that they can’t repair hardware. If a chain or parts of hardware are going rust-colored, it is likely that the metal base is copper or brass and then coated with a color which has started to chip off on wear points. This is common on lower-priced bags.
Ex YSL employee here 👋 the enamel on black hardware comes off very easily and will need to be fixed every so often. I’ve had my all black Lou Lou for 6 months (use it sporadically) and the enamel is chipped and it annoys me so I haven’t been using it. Saint Laurent resale isn't too bad. I have a Chanel WOC and a YSL WOC. The Chanel retails at 00 and the buyout offer was only 00, while the YSL WOC retails at 50 and got a buyout offer for 00. That puts both of them right around 66%.
Online, the German YSL page currently only shows the black with gold hardware and a pink satin version. In store they had the bag in dark beige (the one I picked), green velour, white, black with golden hardware and black with black hardware (also loved it but was scared of the hardware chipping).
